MOKIRE
Privacy policy.
What information is used, why it is needed, and the choices you have as a Mokire reader.
Last updated:
1. About this policy
This policy covers Mokire, our English-language travel journal at mokire.com. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the team responsible for this website. It explains our website practices and correspondence sent to hello@mokire.com.
For a privacy question or request, email hello@mokire.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line. This policy should be read alongside our Terms of service.
2. Information involved when you use Mokire
We do not require registration or payment to read our guides. The information involved depends on what you do:
- Website requests. Our hosting and delivery provider receives technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested pages, request time, and referring information where your browser supplies it. This supports page delivery, troubleshooting, and protection against abuse.
- Information you send. If you email us, the correspondence may include your name, email address, message, attachments, and ordinary email metadata.
- Choices kept on your device. Saved guide identifiers and checklist selections are held in your browser. Searches and filters run in the page; the site does not transmit your search text to an external search service.
- No booking profile. Mokire has no customer accounts, newsletter signup, payment collection, or booking database. Please do not send passport numbers, payment details, health records, or other sensitive information.
3. Why information is used
We use information to deliver the journal, keep it secure, respond to readers, investigate corrections or rights concerns, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not use correspondence to enroll you in marketing emails.
Where a data-protection law requires a legal basis, our purposes include legitimate interests in operating a secure publication and responding to readers, and compliance with legal obligations. Any future optional processing that needs consent will be explained before it starts. You may withdraw that consent; doing so does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. We do not make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means.
4. Cookies, local storage, and your choices
Cookies are small browser files that can be sent with web requests. Local storage keeps information in the browser for a website to use. Our application does not currently set advertising or analytics cookies. Hosting security features may use necessary cookies when a security check is triggered.
The reading list uses mokire-saved-v1 and the arrival checklist uses mokire-checklist-v1. These entries are created when you use those features and are not uploaded to a Mokire database. They are specific to this browser and device, and have no automatic expiry set by Mokire.
Use the button below to remove both entries, or clear data for mokire.com in your browser settings. Blocking site storage may prevent these optional features from working. Clearing local data does not delete email correspondence or hosting logs. Website fonts and photographs are served with our own site files, rather than requesting them from font or image providers as you read.
5. Google AdSense and advertising choices
Current status: Google AdSense and other advertising scripts are not enabled on Mokire. The following explains the advertising model we may introduce; it does not mean advertising cookies are currently being set.
If AdSense is introduced, Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies to select ads using visits to this and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies can enable Google and its partners to personalize ads across sites. We will identify the vendors used and update this notice before enabling them.
You can manage Google advertising personalization in My Ad Center and find participating providers’ opt-out tools through YourAdChoices. These controls do not remove all ads and may apply only to a particular browser, device, or account. See how Google uses information from partner sites and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Where required, we will ask for consent before nonessential advertising storage or data use and provide a way to change that choice. Before serving personalized Google ads in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we will configure a Google-certified consent-management platform. Reading this policy or continuing to browse is not consent to advertising cookies.
6. The contact form and direct email
The Contact page currently offers a demonstration form. Its “Message Received” panel is a preview, not confirmation of delivery. The website does not send the form entry, upload it to a server, or save it in local storage. Values remain in the open page’s memory; your browser may independently retain autofill or restore a session.
To actually contact us, write directly to hello@mokire.com. An email link opens your email application, where you decide whether to send. Sending shares your message with the receiving mailbox and the email providers involved. We use it to handle your inquiry, and do not publish your name or correspondence without permission unless required by law.
8. How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose and type of information:
- Saved guides and checklist. These remain on your device until you clear them, delete site data, or your browser removes them.
- Preview form entries. Mokire does not create a stored submission. Your browser’s own autofill and session-restoration settings are separate.
- Direct correspondence. Messages may be retained while a request is being handled and for necessary follow-up, correction records, dispute resolution, or applicable legal obligations. We use these needs to determine retention rather than keeping correspondence indefinitely by default.
- Hosting information. Retention of technical information depends on the hosting service, the security purpose, and its applicable policies and settings. Browser controls do not remove information already processed by a provider.
9. International processing and security
Readers visit Mokire from many countries. Our hosting network and email services may process information outside your home country, where privacy laws can differ. We do not promise that information will remain within a particular country.
Cloudflare describes international-transfer safeguards in its Data Processing Addendum. Where a transfer requires a legal safeguard, the applicable service and transfer arrangement must provide it. Contact us for information relevant to a specific request.
Mokire uses HTTPS for website delivery. No website, email system, or transmission method can offer absolute security. Send only the information necessary to address your inquiry; ordinary email should not be used for confidential travel documents.
10. Your privacy rights
Rights vary with your location and whether a particular law applies to the processing. Under applicable European or UK data-protection law, you may be able to access or receive a copy of your information, correct inaccuracies, request erasure, restrict processing, or obtain eligible data in a portable format.
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. These rights have conditions and exceptions; withdrawal does not undo earlier lawful processing.
To make a request, email hello@mokire.com and describe the information and action involved. We may request proportionate verification, and will respond within the period required by applicable law. We cannot retrieve browser-only saved guides from a central account; you can clear them using the controls above. You may complain to the data-protection authority where you live or work, or where the issue occurred. See the European Commission’s overview of individual rights.
11. California and other US state rights
If a US state privacy law applies to you and our processing, it may provide rights to know or access personal information, correct it, request deletion, receive a copy, or opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Some laws also provide rights concerning sensitive information and appeals of denied requests. An authorized agent may act where the law permits, subject to verification.
Mokire does not currently sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or run targeted advertising. There is no such activity to opt out of in this version. Before introducing it, we will provide applicable opt-out controls and handle legally required preference signals, including Global Privacy Control. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Use hello@mokire.com for a request or, where applicable, an appeal. For more information about California rights and when they apply, see the California Attorney General’s CCPA guidance.
12. Children’s privacy
Mokire is a general travel publication and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us personal information can contact us. If we learn that we hold such information without a lawful basis, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
13. Links to other websites
Our guides link to transport operators, attractions, tourism offices, photographers, and published travel accounts. Opening an external link takes you to a service with its own privacy notice and terms. Mokire does not receive their booking or payment details merely because you followed a link, and we do not control how those services use information.
14. Changes and questions
We will update this policy and the date above when our practices change. Material changes will receive any additional notice required by applicable law. Introducing analytics, advertising, or a working submission service requires a matching notice and any necessary choices before that processing begins.
Questions about this policy can be sent to hello@mokire.com. Use direct email for requests; the preview contact form does not deliver them.
